Staying in Touch During a Business Travel

One of the hardest parts of being a working mom is  having to leave your family when you are tasked for a business travel.  You will never run out of instructions and reminders down to the last minute of leaving with your suitcase. That  includes meal plans, schedules for school, vitamins and medicines to take and others.  Most of the time, it causes stress and anxiety as you cannot help to think about them.  Below are some tips to make the leaving less stressful and less worrisome.

Arrange things before leaving. This includes preparing  meals or snacks that can be stored in the refrigerator or those that do not easily spoil.  This is to ensure that they will still eat healthy while you are away.  You can also prepare the clothes, towels and socks that they will wear within the week, especially for those who go to school.

Orient them.  Have a list of reminders which they can easily see.  It could be at the refrigerator door or at the door of your child’s room.  Discuss those reminders and rules to your children.  Also, make them aware about the purpose of your travel, your itinerary, schedule and phone numbers which they can contact.

Be in contact.  With the modern technology, it is much easier to communicate.  No matter how busy you are, make time to call or send a message to check on them.  Make sure to remember special occasions and events and let them feel your love even if you are away.

Let your child feel your presence.  This is especially recommended if you are leaving a baby or a toddler.  You can record your own voice narrating your child’s favorite bedtime store or song.  It can be played to get your baby to sleep.  If you have older children, you can leave a note expressing your love on their drawer or closet.
